9 Day Ngorongoro Highland Trek & Wildlife Safari
Day 1: After breakfast drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its dense wildlife population which is most spectacular between June and September. Lunch at the picnic, dinner and overnight stay at Haven Nature camp.
Day 2: After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy the landscape stretching out before you, allowing you to experience its beautiful views and wildlife. You will see the spectacular Rift Valley and we hope to view your favorite carnivores and herbivores in their natural habitats. Lunch today is a lunchbox at the picnic site. Dinner and overnight at Haven Nature camp.
Day 3: After an early breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a fantastic game drive; enjoy your 5 hours into the crater floor before heading to Nainokunoka village. The camp will be set up and you will start your hike to Olmoti Crater. You will be guided by our Maasai walking safari guide. The reward of the climb is the great view that you get from the top of the Crater edge. There is also possibility to visit a small waterfall along the way, Dinner and overnight at the camp, the night at 265m height might be damply and cold, depending on the time of the year.
Day 4: After breakfast, the journey begins through the highland passing many traditional Maasai Bomas and their cattle. After a short distance, wild animals can be seen such as Thomson Gazelle, Wildebeest, Zebras and more. There are many animals; hungry jackals are not far away and high in the sky majestic eagles are observing the situation. After a few hours walk to the village of Bulati, a car will be waiting for you. A short drive to the nearby Empakai Crater rim, then we'll start walking again along the side Empakai crater rim to the camp where hot lunch will be waiting for you. After lunch we'll hike into Empakai crater before returning to the camp in evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: After breakfast the journey continues to the Maasai village of Naiyobi, while following a good track. The village as well as Oldonyo Lengai can be seen in the distance. After lunch in Naiyobi, the trek leaves Ngorongoro to Conservation Area and the landscape become drier and warmer. Our camp will be set up at a forest at Acacia campsite, with yellow back acacia, here we'll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 6: The last stage of the trek is not too long and goes mainly downhill. The hightlight of the trek are the great views of the Oldonyo Lengai, Lake Natron and the rift valley. A big part of the rugged countryside is covered by the ashes of the last eruption in the year of 2007 which add to the surreal pictures of the landscape. The trek goes deeper down into the dry and hot Rift valley, where the dried out ash can be viewed from up close. You will reach the waiting jeep just before lunchtime then drive to the Camp at Lake Natron where you will have another short trek to waterfalls just to refresh the warm of Lake Natron. Visit the lake in the evening and return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: After breakfast drive to Serengeti National Park, short evening game drive on the way to Seronera area where you will be staying for a night. Lunch on the way, dinner and over night at Seronera Wildlife Lodge.
Day 8: After breakfast we'll start with an early game drive, enjoy our lunch at the Seronera Lodge followed by an afternoon game drive. We'll spend the night at the Seronera Lodge again.
Day 9: After breakfast enjoy your last morning game drive. After lunch, transfer to Serengeti Airport for your flight home.
